Blogging Personal Demons
Like a lot of Americans I feel swept up in the worlds problems and am confused and upset with our politics. My father served in the United States Army and retired a soldier of the utmost honor. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and passed away several years ago. The cancer was caused by his exposure to agent orange in the Vietnam war. Months after his death, my mother received a check for $250.00 and a letter of apology from the U.S. government. Wow, talk about a slap in the face. We weren’t expecting any money and I wish they hadn’t sent anything.
Today when I watch the news I can’t even begin to piece together all the ridiculous aspects of politics fed to us by the different biased networks. It hurts to watch and I feel like an idiot to think about who I’ll vote for. I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent person and I have studied the philosophies of many cultures. So I ask myself why am I so confused and dismayed about all this stuff? I wish I had the answer as I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way. I am not a very politically driven person and I sometimes don’t watch or read any news for weeks at a time.
I think that it is more important now to live the days I have trying to be happy and doing what I love because I don’t know that I will always be able to.
One of my favorite authors, Carlos Castaneda wrote some of the most enlightening words ever written. He said that mankind has four natural enemies:
- the fear of death (must be overcome to become enlightened)
- clarity (seeing all things for what they are)
- power (the most dangerous of the four)
- old age (the final enemy, which I hope we live to face)
I often wonder which stage of philosophical development our world leaders have conquered.
Having said this I would like to point out some other blogs that have helped me get my mind off of the worlds problems and enjoy some nice things in life.
The first is Kerala Articles, especially the articles by Biby Cletus. This is all about India and all the beautiful and wonderful aspects of their culture. It is filled with great articles and incredibly beautiful photography. All I can say is that it is fantastic!
The second is Wannabewino which is a “wine and cheese” blog. I found this blog fun to read and filled with ideas for anyone wanting to add some zest to their lives. The writing is great and filled with personality from author Sonadora. This is one of the most refreshing writers in the blog world!
The next is The Ranting Willow which is an introspective blog from a very introspective lady,
Ranting Willow. I like this blog because I look inside almost obsessively to understand myself and the world. The author is extremely intelligent and a great writer. I told her that she really needs to write a book. It is beautifully written and sometimes dark but very honest and poetic.
I know a lot my writing is dark (especially my poetry) , but I just wanted to share something bright in this life of mine with anyone who will listen. Do yourself a favor and check out some of this fine writing. I hope you enjoy it!

Bobby-
Thank you so much for the mention and the kind words! It’s always nice to know that people enjoy what you are doing.
I think you are doing a terrific job over here, “dark” writing and all. You hit on many excellent points in your posts, I can completely relate to the frustration with the political world. Here in DC, it’s pretty much all anyone will talk about!
Sonadora
Thanx for the props! And you ain’t seen nothing yet, LoL! 34+years of darkness to share with the world, I’ve barely scratched the surface
Am very flattered that you think I’m book-worthy; I’ve been told that before, and have always shrugged it off,,, maybe one of these days I’ll find enough to write about to be compiled into a book? We;ll see….
(btw - I’ve moved: I’m now [here])
Hi Bobby!
