My new friend Nick from AythingGoes wrote a humourous post about his hair
It reminded me of my barber from childhood to age 26, Dan Tracey. Dan was a legendary barber here in the small seaside city of Longbeach, Mississippi. My best friend John Justice also went to Dan for his haircuts; we both miss Dan and were shocked to read about his sudden death as he seemed to be in perfect health.
It’s amazing how much a business owner like Dan can really have an effect on people’s lives. He wasn’t just a barber, he was a caring friend and was always upbeat and personable. If he cut your hair once, you would be his customer for life. I wish Dan would have lived to see blogging. He would have been loved by all of you! That’s how you run a business, and there is no better way of doing things that could ever replace that kind of warmth to keep customers forever. I try my best to do the same in blogging. My closest blogging friends are all a lot like Dan. You know, I don’t have to say who my blogging friends are, because they already know:) Nick’s post inspired me to remember a great friend with all of you. Below is the comment I left on Nick’s post. This is my favourite way to blog, because another blogger prompted a feeling in me and that’s what blogging is all about! No one has ever written a post about this man, so I thought it’s a nice gesture and if I’m lucky, maybe someone else who knew him will find this post. There are so many unsung heroes in our lives, and they are all worth writing about
“I had the same local barber all my life until I was 26. His name was Dan Tracey. He was such a great guy and everyone loved him. He’d cut your hair in 2 minutes and it was perfect every time! In that 2 minutes you would have a great conversation, he talked fast and everything he did, he did quickly but was so memorable. Sadly, out of the blue, he died with no warning. Since then, I don’t think about my hair, I just remember what a great guy Dan was. This post made me think of him, and if he’s looking down from heaven, I know he’s smiling from your wonderful post:)
Here’s to Dan and you Nick! Have a great day:)”

Jesse: Thanks for coming by! Now, I will tell you to definetly read problogger and all the big advice blogs, but do watch how others are using their advice and you’ll find your way. I’m far from an expert but originality is why all the big money makers are big. I hope you succeed and please share what you learn as I’ll be learning from you also

Bobby, that is something good when you are your own host. Your line above ‘ Welcome back, want to share something Janice’ caught me by surprise. I din rem seeing it the other day I drop a comment here. I think that makes your blog so welcoming… GOOD JOB !!
Back to your haircut experience…
Did I ‘see’ a 2 mins hair cut. THAT is super fast MAN. The fastest I know of that offer here is 10 mins cut salon for S$10 w/o wash of course
I just scroll up the screen & saw your pic…. Ooppppssss, now I understand why it takes only 2 mins….. LOL

Hey, Bobby glad my post inspired you to write about Dan. Though I never knew him, I can feel his friendliness already
I’m sure he’s pretty busy in that barber shop in the sky dishing out his same 2 minute haircuts and with that same cheerfulness of his

I found myself thinking about this post long after I read it while driving around town. You’ve hit on a truth for sure! The kind of service and friendliness Dan provided is rare, but so worth it to find and give. I wish there were more people and businesses out there just like Dan’s.

That is when it is more than a business, becoming a second home for customers. Thats the kind of business I want. Sorry for hibernating this week I am studying and I cannot stop until it is crystal clear. I look at business from an angle business people don’t get. And it is true that on Zarphonag during the 3rd climactic equinox, the craft will land on earth – eat only salt and lemons for we are food of dark ZOG. Will you come? Let us be eaten! who is this?

Bobby I know how it feels to lose someone you value! I recently lost my colleague and friend, Andrew. He was in the peak of health and was very careful about his diet but one day just upped and died. It was so sudden. We were all not prepared!
He worked as an electrician and did odd jobs in his spare time. He’s been over many times to my place to fix the lighting and wiring that was faulty or needed replacing. Always giving good advice on what to do and doing a very clean remarkable job!
Sometimes we just don’t know when death will come knocking and we should live life to the fullest! Enjoy every moment and all the friends we have for without friends what is life!

Thanks Eddie, life is short! We all can never understand that enough. I live my social life on line as the people are much different than the ones you meet out in a nightclub etc. Friends here are just as good as friends anywhere, maybe even better

LOL! That’s right! The benefit of getting older is saving money on haircuts and combs:grin: Actually when I was in highschool I had long hair like a hippie!!

I played in bands for a living, but longhair on a guy looks funny. Some people, but not me:smile:
