Choices Galore Food Meme

I was recently tagged by a very well known Perfume Mogul recently to write about 5 really good places to eat in my neck of the woods. To keep from being drenched in gallons of reject perfume which didn’t meet her criteria for scent euphoria, I must comply as she is very rich and powerful! The post from which I was tagged is link to Mariuca’s post :)

Before you come to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to have a delicious meal I must tell you what it’s really been like here. After Hurricane Katrina, there wasn’t much here as you can see in the photo below. This is pretty much how everything looked as far as you could see no matter where you went!

For around four months following the storm I dined on a most nutritious food source called the U.S.government MRE or meal ready to eat! Each has a little packet you place your food pouch (main entr�e pouch) in and add water to heat. Each MRE has around 3500 calories and I ate six every day for four months. To tell you the truth, they actually very good (except for the morbidly disgusting breakfast of scrambled eggs if you were unlucky enough to get that particular one). It had a poptart in the box so it wasn’t too bad. That was it unless you like insects!

We now have casinos back in full swing. I was a bartender working in casinos for several years before the hurricane!

    Is that a army food ration? In my country, the army food is getting better servings now compared to few yrs back. Even their combat ration are yummy :)

    Yes! They also stay fresh for years. I haven’t eaten at many restaurants lately because there are none :smile: :smile: :smile:

    Mariuca: Don’t tell me, you play slot machines!!! Well the Casino’s here are the big source of places to eat. Thats all they advertise. Each one has like 10-15 restaurants in each. Thanks Marzie :smile:

    Jessie: Right now it’s pretty good. I will admit, I cook most of what I eat. When they get a place around here that can cook like me or better, I’ll eat there LOL :smile:

    Wow Bobby. Very cool post.

    I hope you meant to say that the MRE’s had 350 calories each and not 3500 because if so, and you ate 6 a day, you consumed 21,000 calories a day! You’d be the size of my Island by now at that rate!

    Also, I just now saw what you wrote on my CinqPic over at In Cinq and you reduced me to a blubbering pile of tears. Bobby, any woman lucky enough to have your friendship, much less roses, is the luckiest woman in the world.

    Polli: Yes 3500 calories! When in highschool I was a tall toothpick. I normally consumed 6000-10000 calories per day in 10 high protein meals and i lifted weights etc. I gained 30 lbs after the hurricane! Your right in a way as I didn’t eat 6 everyday but most days. I am
    6′ 5″ and weigh 200 lbs. I am blessed with an incredibly fast metabolism :smile: :smile: :smile:

    I once watched on tv that the army food dept hv come up with a special burger which are packed in air tight plastic. It was said to contain dunno what nutritions but was said to be nutritious + yummy. And the most wonderful thing about this burger is that it can be kept for 6 months. cool inventione huh?
    anyway, i will add you to my list.. im going to post this meme soon. :P

    Good Lord, Bobby! 10,000 calories a day?!?! :shock: I too have the metabolism of a humming bird but that’s just nuts… although the Beef Stroganoff MRE is mighty good! The ‘new’ MRE is a vast improvement over the old one, and I have a case sitting down in the basement for the inevitable hostile take over of the world by robots… :roll:
