@Matt: Yes, it is better to go for less competitive keywords. To compete for a keyword phrase like "Make money on line" you would need to have thousands of incoming links using that exact phrase and write at least 20,000 articles about it on several different blogs all pointing to your main landing page.

@Miragi: Hahaha...I like being stalked. Actually, my article called SEO friendly article titles is more useful. That's how I got over 40 individual articles on Google search page 1 results. Though I don't write about this stuff anymore, all hose old articles still generate 70% of my traffic. Thanks Mi!!!

yep. very helpful. how does this work with popular searches with lots of websites catering to it or no websites with but people entering searches for them? would it be ideal to create words that cater to these lesser entered words to quickly grab that traffic?

thanks

A few years ago I ranked highly for extremely competitive keywords in my industry. They sank after a while, and very recently one of my new sites has had great success ranking for those same words. The thing is, they are only sending a fraction of the google traffic they used to. Has anyone else experienced this? I suspect it's because of all the adwords above the first organic result.

Hi Midas! Keeping your homepage small (100KB or under) will be a wise decision for any site. A keyword is simply something a person will type in when they are doing a search online!

I am one of those who do not understand keywords. I am especially interested in that "decreasing" size for blog. You give lots of things to think about.

Midas's last blog post..Happy Birthday to My One and Only Love
