Breaking News!
I just read a post from my friend at Adsense Tracker. I have been reading her truly amazing blog and was shocked to see she has the story of the year! She would not reveal how she got this information but if this is true, she broke it FIRST! Here is an excerpt:
In a nod to Web 2.0 and in an effort to make the Google experience more user-centric, Google will end the system of assigning each web page a Page Rank based on an algorithm of links, quality and popularity. Instead, each page will have a Page Rate assigned by the readers.
Have you read her blog? This girl is simply amazing and I love the fact that a female has the STORY OF THE YEAR in my opinion (provided of course that it is true).

Adsense Tracker ROCKS!!!!!
Next we can discuss why this is the worst decision Google has ever made!

Hi Bobby!
Woah that’s quite a shocking news from Google. If it is true. And u were just talking about this to us the other time…
Hmm…we just have to wait and see how this new system works. Hope that the system would produce a positive outcome for us all.

Not true at all Bobby. The girl I sublet one of my apartments to works for G and has verified the falsity. Plus, the post itself is labeled under “humor”. So, it’s obviously an attempt at link bait (IMHO). But a poor one at that.
Shine on,

That was a good one. I just couldn’t keep the comment joke going at the expense of its creators, for I like ‘em.

Bobby says, “I thought it was funny! I have it filed under humor too!
”
That’s one of the many reasons why I like you, my friend.
You know good stuff when you see it. I would’ve liked to be able to play it out longer, but that just wouldn’t be cool to do on someone else’s blog I don’t think.
Nonetheless, I think people will get a kick outta your post on it. Plus, it makes me think about April Fool’s Day. I know you’ve gotta be a prankster!

Bobby,
I have to be honest. I still don’t understand this page rank thing.
If you know where to help rank a page, do let me know. I will rank for my blog buddies like yourself
BTW, you see the cute nice icons that you put up linking to Janice, Marzie, Jean, Emila and Nafa? .. How do I do one for myself? Must use some design software?
Have a Nice Day Bobby!

If this were to come true, can you just imagine the absolute panic and horror surrounding those with high PR at the thought that they may that they may drop a point or two in rank for awhile? I’d love to sit back with a bucket of popcorn and watch that show, let me tell you…

Shocking indeed. Not to be a pessimist, but I worry about how this new system is going to be abused. As we’ve seen with the recent BlogRush announcements, since Day One losers were cheating the system with automated bots to help them gain more exposure. But I guess you can’t avoid something like this. First it was keywords, and everyone stuff their pages with all sorts of things. Then it was link farms, and Google got wise to that as well. So maybe they have in their arsenal something that’s meant to squash the abusers from gaming the system.

We definitely would be busted back to bottom, if this really took place, knowing that all the top players having the financial capacities within them to manipulate this.
Definitely the story of the year

Actually, that makes a bit of sense. Wouldn’t that make sense if it provided more info on everyone who does read it? Although, it would be like the other ranking system and we already have one of those. It provides more of a unique look at it. Maybe I have no idea what I am talking about lol

Rolando: I’m not so sure it’s a good idea. If individuals rate pages then the big money bloggers will bury us. One cash blogger could pay a staff to rate all individual blog pages the lowest possible score. Normal bloggers aren’t going to take the time to rate EVERY SINGLE POST IN EXISTENCE. Money bloggers will do it 24-7-365. That scares me!

I care about the 55 million other people that deserve to be acknowledged. I have to tell you tha I am SO DISAPPOINTED in the A-List crowd. They completely ignore me and every one else! I have more friends than all of them combined. The people that read them don’t care about anything but money! What is your first name? I really like your blog, you have a great sense of humor!

Garry Conn: Thanks Garry! I make new friends everyday, and after a month or so, I really get to know them. I have 122 posts with 2485 comments! 75% of these comments are really from the last 60 or so posts. Exactly 50% of them are mine. If I don’t answer a comment it’s an accident! I believe this approach of compassionate friendships is superior in power and is really “new” in the blogosphere. It takes longer to rise but I plan to stay for the long haul.
I am here to do something beneficial for humanity and make a living doing it. My readers are the most awesome people I have ever met and I truly love them with all my heart. I welcome you as my new friend and I am so proud of you as a blogger! I think it was inevitable that I met you! Here’s to you Garry Conn, for giving me even more hope that business and friendship go hand in hand. Like a good mom & pops restaurant filled with friends, so can be the blogosphere. All of us have the ability to do anything. The web is an infant and this is just the beginning!!!!!

Dawn: After I published this gag article, I went and placed comments about “story of the year is yesterdays news” on 8 A-list blogs. Most scurried over and NONE left a comment. I’m sure they left thinking,”What an idiot, he now has no credibility”.
I did it on purpose because when my blog becomes high ranked (I know that it eventually will be) they will remember me. I dare any of them to even ask me a question or try to be my friend. Sorry, a hollow, meaningless friendship based on a lust for cash is MEANINGLESS to me. Sure, I plan to make money, but what I do with it and any power I gain will be SHOCKING to all of them. I’d love to have the attention of 40 million people and actually have them listen.
I like to stir up controversy and burst bubbles. I’ll do whatever it takes to make all the followers realize something: there are 50-100 million or so blogs. A teeny tiny minority of them run the show. Who’s fault is that? It our fault. Wouldn’t it be crazy if 50 million people stopped reading all these top blogs all at once? Google would have a nuclear meltdown. I can dream can I not? Ha ha ha
