First, I want to say happy Martin Luther King day. What he fought and died for is and will always be one of the most important issues facing the whole of humanity. It is powerfully disturbing that we have become something even worse than racists; we have become a world of self-centered, narcissistic and self-righteous peoples.I recently finished reading my 8th book about the ‘Law of Attraction’. I have read nearly every major religious work and even a few books about ‘Scientology’. I forewarn everyone, you may be highly offended at what I’m going to say.
I am neither a leader or a follower, I am an individual. I am a seeker of truths and strive to understand truth with open mindedness and clarity. The reason I read so many books about the law of attraction is that I kept trying to learn something new, something I didn’t realize on my own, back in my early teen years. I never found it!
I thought everyone already knew the general ideas in this type of subject just by virtue of being an intelligent human being. If the law of attraction helps you, and you believe in it, then it is good (but what is ‘good’). However, anything you believe that helps you is good – whether it’s a religion, a cult, a self-help book, a philosophical revelation or a visit to the psychiatrist.
I will point out, that simply being educated about all these things and believing in yourself, beyond any teachings is the same thing…generally speaking. Because of the shallow way this world has evolved, both spiritually and intellectually, people are likely to follow something; they are looking for truth. They want to be shown truth, not discover it within themselves.
That truth is not in any book or video or seminar; it is within your own mind and fueled by your own desire to understand it. Some folks may say, “Yes, exactly…that defines the law of attraction!”
Hahahaha…no it doesn’t! If it did, it wouldn’t be called that…it would simply be called truth! Truth is not a marketing tool to sell books. Quite simply, the law of attraction is a marketing tool which is popular simply because it reflects humankind’s need to seek what what it believes it needs in the present time. It is a sign of the times.
People want to gain wealth and have a good life for themselves and their children. This is because that “good life” is for the privileged few and most of us do not have it. We are so animal like, so filled with greed and envy. It’s both our own faults along with the governments and those who have wealth.
If you are wishing, praying or visualizing yourself gaining wealth, you should be ashamed! Wish and visualize helping humanity, not lining your wallets. I’m sorry, but “praying” for material objects helps fester and perpetuate all that is wrong with the world. What’s sad is that people are getting rich writing books and selling people these ideas…WAKE UP!!!!!
If I said that a family’s inheritance to their children should be illegal, what would you think? No matter what you think, it is a fact that by having legalized inheritances absolutely causes a lopsided division of wealth over a period of time in any form of government. Surely if a parent has saved $150,000.00, they want their children to have it.
If you have 20 newborn babies, are they equal? In most cases, yes – but not in wealth. If one child’s parents have 50 million dollars, then that child will live a privileged life. The other children will have to fight for themselves. Thus, survival of the fittest doesn’t apply! It becomes survival of the wealthiest and greediest!
On the flip side, if the government took 75% of all inheritances, corruption behind closed doors would occur! Look at the forms of government in today’s world. A communistic government will always develop inner corruption and will rot from the inside out. A society based on money like in the US, the wealth becomes one sided forming a massive poor and middle class where people barely get by.
It is inevitable that the US government will not last forever, but I am not afraid. So what would work best? How can humanity solve these problems? I believe the answer cannot be achieved through government.
Right now, Americans are giving up liberty for protection by the government. What are we afraid of? I say there is nothing to fear, not even death. We are not fighting for liberty, we are fighting for greed and wealth!
“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.”
Benjamin Franklin
Can you see the problem? Have you learned something? War and violence is not the solution; they are the traits of nescience and cowardice. The answers are in heart of individuals – each and every one of us.
Should individuals legally be able to keep billions of dollars just for themselves? Therein lies the problem! This is the wrong question. I say, sure, an individual has every right to keep billions – I ask that individual, “Why would you want to?”
This is my personal hypothesis. A person should not want to keep this only for themselves, leaving it only for their children. Under an absolutely transparent democracy, free from greed – we can find the truth. I’m not talking about some ridiculous utopia, I’m talking about humankind finding peace and honesty within themselves – on an individual basis.
Unfortunately, this is a paradox. Within the fabric of everything humankind does, lie the seeds of destruction. Therefore, the real answers are inside our hearts, purely and simply. This is why I choose to be my own person and follow no books or doctrines. I do believe in God, but even more than that – I believe in myself.
Peace and love to everyone on Earth

Bobby I truly do wish that we had gotten to know each other way before the last few weeks. This is an outstanding article and I agree with you one hundred percent. And, shame on me for not realizing it was Martin Luther King Day. I too believe in what he fought for and admire him very much. Now if the weather allows I must do as I said last night and go visit your picks from yesterday.

I agree with the law of attraction, only in that if a person focuses on what they want enough, it encourages them and motivates them to take the necessary steps to get there, so it’s not really some mystical law of attraction at work, so much as it is a natural end result to a process of actions taken. To me there’s nothing wrong with wanting wealth. We all want to have comfort in our lives, but it comes down to the reasons you want the wealth, and what you will do to get there that makes it wrong or right. If I go into debt to buy a 4X4 pick up truck because I want to have a better truck than the neighbor down the street, or I want to cruise it around and be seen in it, that’s wrong. I’m sorry to those it might offend, but it is. However if I buy the same truck because I live in a situation where four wheel drive is necessary to get in and out, or I need to haul things like firewood, or equipment to feed livestock, etc., then that is absolutely appropriate.
It is natural to want and strive for more and better, for ourselves… and for our children. But it should never come at the expense of already being thankful for what we already have. One of the best sayings I have ever heard was, “He who is content with little, possesses much.” It was a hard lesson learned. It was a sticker on a car that we used to laugh at our friend for driving. 3 years and 2 kids later, Mr. Muse and I ended up buying that little car for $200, and we couldn’t have been more humbled or thankful to have it, because otherwise we would have done without, and we didn’t care if people laughed at us while we drove it.

In Islam we believe having wealth is as much of a trial as being poor, but in a different way. The trial is to maintain good character. Many people don’t fare well in that trial. And where I agree there should be more equitable sharing across the board, I am learning right now in Macroeconomics why this is not always possible. We’re strange creatures, us humans.

It is over 145 years since Abe Lincoln signed the “Emancipation Proclamation” in 1863 ending slavery, and it is over 43 years since Martin Luther King marched on Selma, Alabama in 1965 … and we have come a long way, but not far enough. Americans are isolated from each other. We live behind walls around the suburbs, and we are more apathetic then ever.
Which proves that without the people, nothing is really accomplished despite the fact that its written in the Constitution, and in the Bill of Rights, and in law. All these institutions and laws are meaningless without the people, and the people are as apathetic, and as isolated from each other as ever.
It is the people that decide what goes, and without active involvement of the people all these ideals, and dreams, and laws are just paper.

..I love it and I’m humbled by your words..I’m attracted to your reply to Square1 about the school teacher…“I believe a school teacher should make more money than a movie star
.its certainly a MUCH more important job! Humanity needs a wake up call. Theyll get it in the form of self destruction. Ill be too late when that happens.”…Being a teacher, I understand the burden to make a person understand the right way to conduct oneself…and indeed, it will be self destruction if everybody is applying the law of attraction to make themselves richer everyday…

Another powerful post to make us think, Bobby. Experience has taught me that money or possessions do not create “wealth”; that is something that has to come from within. It is all to do with attitude, internalizing your own truths, being at peace with yourself. I eventually stopped searching, reading self-help books and telling myself that I should be this, should do that and accepted myself as I am, flaws and all. I stopped believing that I was not good enough, stopped comparing myself with others and realized that I can only be the best I can be. Unless I read posts like this that prompt me to think about it, I just live and do. My thoughts are no longer full of self, self doubt or “should be”. It took me a long time to get here but I am
very glad I went through the process.

Indeed, another superb post by Bobby Revellian! Peace and Love to Everyone on Earth. I agree. Total, I prefer to add. To me, each individual upon the moment of choice, on the maturity continuum, stay on the religion of her or his parents, or begin to pick a religion most suitable, or choose otherwise. Yet, wise are those who first ask, did The God ordained a religion to all huwmenity? Rather than what religion shall I choose to obtain the God’s pleasure? Thus, in answering without checking first, and after checking for a few, so much so, each falls into 3 major categories. 01) One God, 02) More than one God, 03) No God at all. Of course, there are minors, I prefer not to elaborate, so as to safe this space. Total Freedom, is seen to be translated into Total Free doom, once any member of the citizen of the world, initiate *I am Right You Are Wrong* approach, rather than the respect of our individual rights to a belief. So, the sparking of small debates can possibly lead to dyadic entanglement of a complex web of emotions, to big civil and huge world wars. The solution is Total Global Peace. This tall and huge order begins with each of us progressively expand an inner peace, and eventually shines this wonderful being, beyond self to include others. Blogging, is a place and space, each can initiate a continuous self improvement, including believing in one self. The very intention of your post and keeping it on for a little while longer, shed a clear indication, one can begin with self-centeredness through a sharing of we-peripheral-openness, within The God middle dotness. On the next level, building an e-Community within a social networking platform, then relationships in synchronicity starts with meeting on a point of commonness, proceed with mutual respect and understanding, raising onward, forward, and upward, with forgiveness and forgetfulness to a point at its origination of binding friendship that remains and never can end. Despite what is happening in our society of huwmen, some consider as reality, I am a believer, and I agree with you, each of us can contribute in part, the *myself* growth bit, in such an act, surely a star shines upon this universe within this multi-mega-verses, a potentiality we each can share, as an individual becoming the very essence of the best of the God’s creation. Together. I prefer to share more, after being move by this your superb postings, however, pssst Bobby Revellian, I hear a voice so close saying *I have a Dream…*, do you hear it too? One and all, let’s listen to this voice, once more time again and again. Yes? Yes! I thank you.

Well said again Bobby.
I think we need to understand that we are a product of both the society we grow up in plus that of what our parents and grandparents etc, before us grew up in. If that society does promote the collection of wealth, then what we really need to decide is what does make us wealthy. It is not necessarily monetary wealth which is important.

Thanks Franx…hehe! I do think that the law of attraction has validity and certainly, visualizing your dreams and projecting positivity in a powerful way can be a great thing. However…it is being used by many as a marketing tool to sell books, videos and seminars…all for profit.
The quality of information varies widely in different books. Of course, billions of dollars are made each year through the use of religion too. It’s great to have you here Franx! I’ll be reading your blog. Have a great week

I agree with your point on wealth. However, I just don’t believe any person deserves to have 100 million dollars just for themselves. Some people might think I’m insane for saying that…haha!
I find it unbelievable how certain jobs are super high paying, while others are not. Society rewards the wrong things. A great example is Paris Hilton. She is a cold, unfeeling, and extremely shallow brat….who by virtue of those very qualities is rewarded.
This is one of the biggest reasons humanity will destroy itself. If one huge media network purposefully shunned all unimportant tripe…like Hilton, and made integrity the quality by which popularity were measured…things could begin changing.
I believe a school teacher should make more money than a movie star….it’s certainly a MUCH more important job! Humanity needs a wake up call. They’ll get it in the form of self destruction. I’ll be too late when that happens.
Still, I will remain positive! I can relate to your car story. As I read it…I overheard an entertainment reporter on TV say, “And WHO are you wearing this year? You definitely have a red carpet body…” Hahahahahaha.

I once upon a time took a class on macroeconomics. It’s too bad that good character takes a back seat to superficiality as it relates to popularity. It’s too bad that wealth is often determined by career choice. Many important jobs will not yield wealth, so many people choose careers that pay more…this is why America’s young people are behind in math and science. Why be a poor mathematician, when you can be a rich car salesman? We humans are so very strange
