Bobby’s Batch #7 - Blogging Madness
It’s been a very interesting week here in the blogosphere! Though I’ve been busy working, it somehow made me feel alive again - perhaps from the overall change. I’ve had some server issues with my site. Of course this is my host’s fault and I wish they would just admit it! Below is a picture (entitled “Stress”) which exemplifies exactly how I felt trying to write this during a storm of server inflicted blogging madness. Just seeing this picture made me feel better!
Not all the posts listed are new. One thing I don’t like about blogging is that a post will die and be forgotten so quickly. I really enjoy reading through archives; you should try it sometimes!
Square1 wrote a great little poem The Untamed Pen. I read several poems on her blog and had a very enjoyable experience. I really loved Banging On Glass Walls; a powerfully poetic and introspective work.
The Sandman wrote Chp 163. Sex, drugs and North-east girls. This starts with a brilliant poem and then to a revealing article. The Sandman (Kima Mizoram) is a truly gifted writer. If you have never read his work, this is a great place to start!
Mitchell Allen wrote St. Valentine’s Day Mascara. It starts with a interesting picture and then to the humorous and wonderfully intricate poem, Ode To a Cornish Hen!
TIV wrote a post filled with wise advice on Psychotropic Medication. There is much bad advice on depression out there, which is one reason she wrote it. Thanks TIV!
Jamilla is having My First Ever Contest: Share Your Happy Moments With Jamy! Jamy is a super nice person and needs some participation. I’ll have my entry done in the next few days.
Andrea wrote Leaving Comments On Blogs which is about a situation that happened to her when she gave someone some honest and polite advice. This uncomfortable situation has probably happened to you too!
Marzie is having a new contest Who Wants a Mariuca CNY Mug? It’s easy to enter and lots of fun; be sure to check it out. I won her last contest and can’t wait to receive my wonderful mug! Thanks Marzie!
Teeni wrote about her not so great experience in a restaurant Applebee’s - Saved by the Waiter. I can relate because I worked in Applebee’s for a short period of time!
Laila posted How to cope with depression. This is a funny little video that incited a sarcastic giggle out of me. Thanks Laila!
Finally, Beaman opened a can of intensely debating worms in his take on Islamic fanaticism. I suggest you read his post Something to Think About. Be sure to read all the comments as it is a heated debate (especially the discussion between himself and Laila). Whether you agree with him or not, the discussion is important to read. While you are there, read some of his great poetry!
The “Stress” picture is from Tech It Easy’s Jeremy on his post, The rise and demise of productivity software. Be sure to check out his great tech oriented blog.

Hola Bobby!!! Oh I totally understand this pic here lolz… My PC keeps on hanging, especially when I receive a new email via Incredimail and the whole screen will just freeze, I’d end up restarting the whole thing…many times throughout the day so yes, I am going nuts here too!
I’ve updated my virus list and apparently, there is no virus or spyware or whatever, so I am stumped right now.
Anyway, thanks for the linky love, I just can’t wait for my mug to arrive in US so u can take a pic of it and show it to me! YAY! Also, I read Andrea’s post and I’m glad to see it’s listed here. Have a great day at work Charlie!
Genie Princess’s last blog post..Staying Put
Hi Marzie! I know how frustrating those problems are. Remember, it’s a miracle that the Internet works in the first place. I wonder if you are using email filters to combine your Incredimail with your G-mail account…that could be the culprit. I can’t wait to get my shiny new mug! Unfortunately, I don’t have a good camera; I will take them with my cheap webcam
I can understand your pain Bobby. A few days ago, i also faced a lot of server problems when my account got suspended and my database crashed. And even i like going through archive posts . It helps me see how much i have changed as a blogger over the years.
Madhur Kapoor’s last blog post..Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 launched
I guess it’s the price we pay for using inexpensive hosts! I just can’t afford to pay for better servers. I think that wordpress.com offers great security as long as you don’t plan on using ads as they don’t allow javascript! Thanks Madhur
This picture is what I looked like before vacation LOL~~ I now have removed the IV and am still crazed~~
Hugs~~
Judy’s last blog post..I’m back….
Hi Judy! It’s definitely a great picture…I think just about every blogger can relate to it!
After blogging for many years, I find your site revealing in what bloggers respond to, and what interests them. It is still amazing to me how bloggers will dwell on trivial things while their country, their lifestyle and their future is ready to go down the tubes. Perhaps they believe they cannot change things. I cannot believe they are all so stupid. Or perhaps fantasy is an escape. Or perhaps they are all so busy with their lives they do not have time to see what is ready to blow their houses down!
EuroYank’s last blog post..The Four Stages of the Post - Oil Crash (Essay)
Hi Euro, I try to balance things here so I avoid the pitfalls of being too serious or too non-serious - if you go too far either way, you lose your readership. I don’t think of any reader or blogger as being stupid. I think everyone has different reasons for blogging. The truth is, we don’t really know what anyone does in their daily lives - so I don’t discriminate against anyone. Everyone is treated as equals here
Bob - come on. You and I both know how blogging works. Everybody has their tricks to get readers, and everybody has ways of playing the numbers to get better stats. Those that know how to fudge the numbers look better. Those that have serious posts rank somewhere behind cat blogs because they spend to much time thinking and researching. And what about my comment do you see as discriminating? I was just stating my opinion about what is important and what is not. If you find that discriminating than maybe you are discriminating against my comment, because you do not really know me do you?
EuroYank’s last blog post..The Four Stages of the Post - Oil Crash (Essay)
I think you misinterpreted my comment Euro! Looking at it, I can understand why. What I mean is that I read and participate with all bloggers, it really had nothing to do with your comment (I often go in strange directions). I must admit, I have felt like many bloggers just aren’t interested in anything important - it’s very frustrating for anyone trying to write something important. Sometimes, after writing what I feel is extremely important information and people just ignore it, it can be very disheartening. I wasn’t discriminating against your comment and I apologize for not being more clear. I consider you to be a good friend and I have great respect for your hard work.
I actually do nothing for my stats even though I should. I gave up on it after Google stripped my page rank from 4 to 0 (five consecutive times) - that made me think that Google is truly stupid!
Bob, I respect you more than ever. I did not expect you to print my retort. Your honesty is overwhelming! I thank you and this disagreement was total misinterpretation. You are a friend indeed and thanks for airing this, even though I was ticked off. I also greatly respect your work and giving the people the diversity in topics that is important. Must be my time of the month!
EuroYank’s last blog post..The Four Stages of the Post - Oil Crash (Essay)
Haha! I know that feeling. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve written something I thought was good and someone leaves a comment like, “You’ve been tagged!” Being all serious about my serious post…I’m boiling over after that! I’ve learned that it’s ok and I see things different now. You, I or nobody for that matter can make other people see things the way we do. Sometimes, I want to grab someone by the shoulders and say, “HEY BUDDY…THIS IS IMPORTANT…NOW PAY ATTENTION!” Hahahaha
Wow! Thanks so much for the link, Bobby. I’m honored to be included in such a lively roundup! Also, I know what you mean about the important and serious posts, but I think many people will not comment on those as much because they are trying to avoid controversy. That’s my opinion, anyway. I also think that is why a lot of important ideas become cartoons. Just saying.
teeni’s last blog post..How We Got Jam
Please tell me that you made some minor design tweaks to your blog during your server issues, because something is different. I’m not sure what, but something just looks slightly different.
dcr’s last blog post..Hodge Podge, or What to Say to a Naked Woman
I tagged you a couple of times. I wonder if I did that on one of your serious posts?
Anyway, it’s great to see you having all these cool conversations with commentors!
That “Stress” picture was sooo me, last week! I’m glad that’s over!
Thanks for adding my “poem” to your batch!
Cheers,
Mitch
Mitchell Allen’s last blog post..Six Simple Sounds Summarize Self Story
Hahaha!!!! I don’t know if you did or not Mitchell! To be honest, it’s those comments that ground me. I love when I write a dead serious article and someone says something unrelated - it reminds me to not be uptight and take myself too serious. You’re always welcome and you can and should leave whatever comments you like!
You’re welcome Teeni! If I write a serious post and expect 200 serious comments - I will be seriously disappointed…haha! When someone wants to change the world, it really means they want everyone to see things the way they do - in many respects - it ain’t happening!
Friends are friends…now that is serious
Ah…my mind control experiment is working

To be more democratic, I removed all individual site buttons and put a blogroll in my side bar (I had some complaints about it - believe it or not). Thanks DCR
lol.. really nice picture, I’m sure I’ll need it for my blog one day! Can I borrow it, then?
And thanks for listing my short video!
Me,too, I noticed there was a difference in the layout, but wasn’t sure what it was.
And concerning what readers respond to, I realized that readers respond most to posts that are highly personal, like when someone is writing how he felt today or what he did. Also readers respond most to short posts. When the post is very long, lazy readers (including me) sometimes just skip!
Laila’s last blog post..Bedroom (2)
Hello bobby, I love that pic and indeed it does make somone feel better about themselves…because it makes us not feel alone in our misfortune I assume. Sooner or later the “side effects ” of stress will takes its toll on me so I am not realy looking forward to it. i blame myself for making myself stress because if I were a more organized I would not be so stressed or maybe I would because I can be quite compulsive about perfection…I have to agree also that writing makes one feel more “alive” for the simple reason that one is taking things little by little making contemplation…sort of like a peace treaty between your body and your mind.I have had a diary ever since I was 7 or 8 yrs old and I find peace when praying and writing about my thougts so yeah that basically fits that blogging is fun and can be beneficial in many ways for it also creates dialogue between other people with different backgrounds and cultures…our thoughts share much similarities and can conclude that for certain all humanity is equal….
yasmine’s last blog post..NO TIP FOR YOU MEANY
Hi Laila! I borrowed the picture myself - I never ask, I just give the originator a link (that’s all most folks require). I believe that if we expect others to see from our own perspective, we will fail. We can however share our insight and hopefully, we all learn something new!
Now that u had mentioned it, I never re-read my archives. Unless the blog is on “How to…”, then the readers would most probably click on them.
Haney’s last blog post..Site Down.
Thank you Bobby for the mention and kind praise about my poetry. I am very thankful for your contribution and welcome your comments always. No doubt there’ll be more hot posts.
Beaman’s last blog post..Hetty Photo
Bobby, thank you for posting my contest in your new post here!
That’s so great. I cant wait to have more participant after you announced in ur blog. I got one participant which mentioned that he/she found my blog through you. Pretty good!
And I also cant wait of your happy entry too!!
JaMiLLa’s last blog post..Happy Is The Keyword (My Favorite Saying)
Hi Yasmine! Yes, blogging brings humanity closer together. I know I sometimes sound like a sappy existentialist, but I believe in this wonderful communication medium. All of us using the power of the written word - it’s incredible. Thanks so much
Hi Haney! One thing I made myself was my best post’s list in my sidebar. It’s only been up a few weeks but has already provoked readers to dig a little more than usual. Perhaps I will come read some of your! Thanks Haney
You are welcome Beaman! I’ve read all of your poetry; it’s some of my very favourite in the entire blogosphere. I really learned a lot through that article and commentary!
Jamilla, I am so happy to see a comment from you! I know you had problems with that before (you’re not the only one, many folks have; I hope it’s now working correctly). I saw that Teeni joined in - how cool! I will work on it tonight. It’s so great to see you here
hi bobby! i missed u too! thanks for leaving me a msg in my chatbox. I am thrill that u remember me despite my “non-visitation”.
i hate to see old posts die too, and what a great idea to give them some linkies love! so thoughtful of you!
Jean Chia’s last blog post..Missing From Blogging
YES BOBBY!
I am so happy to see my comment in publishing here when I checked it back!
Actually I posted the comment twice. I was using my brother pc. One is using IE and anoher is Opera 9.10
I dunno which one works!
And of course you can post your entry in your blog. No problem! Share your experience and happy moment with your friends. Let them celebrate with you. Create a happiy and positive environment in blogosphere!
JaMiLLa’s last blog post..Happy Is The Keyword (My Favorite Saying)
Bobby..what a funny yet true picture!! LOL…. this is interesting post…. reviewing your friends’ post here.. what a nice gesture!
It’s great to hear from you Jean! Of course I remember you…I look forward to a new blog post!
Hi Trinity, I must review some of your posts soon!
Thanks Jamy, I’ll publish soon!
Hi Booby,
I get a good vibe from EuroYank. I’ll have to check out his words….
Thanks for including me with these fine bloggers and mentioning my post. I loved the picture too by the way. I so can relate! I also loved your exchange with EuroYank. I guess he realizes just how real and honest you are. We’ve been thru some blog drama and always keep to the truth whether people agree or not. Just sticking my two cents in on Euro’s comment…but, for me, the important issues of the world are on my mind constantly. I think about all things that need to be changed, how this country is ruining itself etc..etc..but I need a release…a break from bleak thoughts, so that’s when I turn to my blog and/or read others words. Once in awhile, I’ll blog about it, but more often need to escape reality even if it’s for a few hours. Just today I was questioning everything in my life, so much so I gave myself a headache! See…need an escape and I am here at your blog.
Take care Booby and I hope you are doing well.
Andrea’s last blog post..Feeling So Honored
Hi Andrea! I love honest posts like that! It is a tremendous burden for any of us who really pay attention to the world. To think about monumental issues; it weighs on the soul. This is what I cannot let destroy me or my happiness. It is difficult to not let things ruin our days and it really shouldn’t. If the world ends tomorrow, I will live happily today!
Oh the pain of narcissism runs deep, because as I read Euroyank’s comments I was thinking, “Hey! I write about serious stuff… sometimes, ” and “Hey! I don’t game the numbers and all that junk!” But then I realized, “Well duh! The guy’s never been to my place that I know of, so what am I getting offended over again?” In any case, Bobby, I feel your pain as it seems that my most serious posts are often the ones that are studiously ignored, and that is incredibly disheartening.
I appreciate the praise on the poetry. Seeing that ignored most of the time is also disheartening, so I eat up any little bit of attention it garners. Once again I deeply appreciate the honorable mentions, and would like to say for Euroyank’s benefit, on March 19th there is a blogswarm planned, an anti-war blogging campaign. If you’re interested, I’ll pull up the details and post the link here. Provided that it’s all right with Bobby, given that it’s his space and all.
Square1’s last blog post.. Being Content With Little
You’re welcome Square1 and thanks to you too! Euroyank puts out an incredible amount of work. What really sucks for him and all of us really, is that news not accepted in the mainstream is widely considered irrelevant; that’s the problem. He’s one of the most serious bloggers I’ve ever met and I respect his ambition. You should meet him, he is really cool!
I will definitely participate in blogswarm. You can post any link, any time! I don’t mind at all. I need to get that widget up too.
When I read Beaman’s post, I became infuriated. Now that I’ve had time to reflect, there was no reason for that. I feel so much more prepared to not get upset about stuff like that. We all have opinions, but we still need to get along. He’s really a nice guy, but is a really smart and intense debater. I respect him for speaking his mind even though I don’t agree with him on many issues. I did learn a lot from it.
I must come read more of your serious articles
The blogswarm info is here. I also need to get signed up and get a widget up. Though I’m so politically hopeless, I have no clue if I’ll be able to compose something intelligible to contribute. Time will tell I suppose.
Square1’s last blog post..Fun Stuff… You Know… For the Fun of It
I’m politically hopeless too…haha! After writing something political, I expect more knowledgeable people to come rip me apart with politically bohemian jargon of an elitist nature.
I expect that, and to be told how I have my facts hopelessly skewed, as seems to be inevitable when I dare to venture out into the depths of politics. This is why for the most part I prefer the shallow water.
Square1’s last blog post..Fun Stuff… You Know… For the Fun of It
I’ll stay in the shallow end too. I wonder…if I preemptively kill my neighbors because I believe they are plotting to firebomb my home, it’s not murder…right? Haha, I guess I just don’t have political aptitude
Hi Bobby, you’ve been tagged!
Just kidding there
Actually I was wondering if I could ask you a question. 2 days ago, ad pages started poping up behind my page. Does this mean that someone has gained my password? I stripped my template - hoping to see any further change. Am I on the right track, or do you think something else altogether happened. This really worries me because I have no idea what could be popping up when visitors stop by.
Thanks,
Eric
Eric “Speedcat Hollydale”’s last blog post..Page Reconstruction / I will be back
Hahaha…no, YOU’VE been tripleX retagged
I would change my password just to be safe. Make sure it’s long and contains letters, numbers and symbols (write it down!). I think blogspot was hit by hackers recently. They don’t necessarily need your password to cause problems. I saw two different popups…one was dirty! Marzie’s site has it too. I’ll see what I can figure out.
