I think most people will not spend the time to read something several pages long (some people will). When writing it, I didn't plan anything and just let the ending happen. I could have ended it totally differently, but because of the fiction horror novel I'm writing, I had to end on a happy note. My novel is brutal, vicious and extremely horrific...with no happiness at all. I really fear the backlash I know I will get. Reading it was like being on one of those seemingly 90 degree water-slides that tower over a tiny glittering pool. You stand on the edge, one step away from the crazy ride, but also just a step away from the tiresome safety of the stairs that lead you back to the ground. And boy, am I glad that I chose the slide! It felt like I was sliding down a vertical rainbow- at any moment, I could just topple over the side and plunge down to my death, but I slid all the way down and came to my feet covered in glistening rainbow-dust :D I love how you blended science fiction with magical realism so beautifully. I could practically taste the Blood River and feel the skin-ripping, gigantic bubble of fear grow inside me when you described the Flesh Hunter. You gave it a pleasant, tranquil ending, which although it counter-balances the vivid action and imagery of the rest of the story, disappointed me mildly. I mean... she woke up.
