Hi Stefanie! Well, I guess we just have to get used to opinionated biased news. The way I see it, any blogger's opinions are equally valid to any major network. We can get the same stories from the AP wire or Reuters and write up our own biased version to further our own agenda...hahaha:smile:

Stephen Colbert is quite possibly the funniest political comic I have ever seen. That show kills me! I like your U.N. solution Debbie - it's brilliant

While I realize that it's important to be informed, I can't stand Fox News (or most of the other news networks, though Fox is definitely the worst of the big ones). I found that I've been considerably happier since I stopped watching the news and instead gave myself the goal of *doing* one thing to make the world better than when I woke up, every single day. The only news I do get is what I see on a quick glance at Fark.com or Yahoo! Homepage News.

Hi Bobby,

For me, the Daily Show and the Colbert Report are the only news sources!

The U.N. tag should be added to "fair and balanced" for UNfair and UNbalanced

All I know is their "fair and balanced" tag line is the most blatant example of media hypocrisy in the history of Earth. I'm starting to think that comedy central has more accurate news than any of the real news networks. I particularly liked this past week's John Stewart review of General Petraeus's vague explanations. I couldn't stop laughing

Fox News Radio?
Is that like 7 minutes to Spin their opinions versus reporting the facts?

It is what it is, useless spin about current news. This by itself creates more "news" to talk about, something they say is important. It's a media business which can be harmful for anybody who thinks that this is "real" news.

<em>Mike's last blog post..<a href='http://bornstar.com/tv-listings/' rel="nofollow">TV listings</a></em>

Hi Todd! I'm really blowing off a little steam in this post and exercising my own right to free speech. I've actually always been a republican. However, I am against war and believe it to be a last resort, not a preemptive solution. I believe in super small government and low taxes. The only thing I like about Obama is that he is against war too. I do not like any of his policies. Everything in the public arena is just opinion. The idea that Osama bin Laden was responsible for 9-11 is just opinion. The idea that our own government was behind 9-11 is also just an opinion. However, after studying the available evidence, I side with 9-11 being an inside job. Overall, politics stresses me out and I probably shouldn't have even written this article. I just write when I am inspired to and that's what being free is all about. I will not vote in the upcoming election because I disagree totally with all the candidates.

I have faith in America and I believe we will make it through anything. I am certainly no expert - just a thinker trying to find his way. Every year that passes, my opinions change more and more

Now a days, there are so many different venues for people to get their "news", that the concept objectivity is almost in the eye of the beholder.

Rather than seeking out information, then forming an opinion based on what we've learned. It seems like lately, we as a society (both right and left), are much more likely to form anopinion, then go out and seek information that validates what we already tend to believe.

Given that frame of reference, I really don't find Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, etc., to be all that "dangerous". For the most part, they're preaching to the already converted. People who believe that the mainstream media are "biased", are drawn to venues such as Fox News because what they hear makes them feel more secure about the opinions that they themselves already hold.

And on the flip side, if you tend to be more of the progressive persuassion, Fox News is probably going to make you want to throw things at your TV set ... watching Bill O'Reilly could easily get expensive if you're not careful.

In the long-run though I'm not so sure it's a bad thing to have a wide variety of opinions out there. And I definitely don't agree with the commenter above who advocates court action, or somehow shutting down the right wing media.

The epitome of freedom of speech is the right to say things that others may not agree with.

... and the proper response to that to either do what Bobby said he's going to do; stop watching/listening. Or even better, put forth a more compelling argument.

My two pennies,
Todd

p.s. as I become old and fuddy I tend to listen to more talk radio in my car. I have presets for both conservative and progressive stations/shows. I tend to agree with the conservatives Very Rarely ... but, at the same time, I find them much more "entertaining" to listen to ... as odd at that may sound
