Hey everyone, I was watching the news on CNN earlier – The Glenn Beck Show. Don’t worry if you don’t know who Glenn Beck is, and don’t stop reading because you despise politics with the most soul searing, black hearted hatred a human being could possibly muster; I promise you’ll understand this post. I don’t care what country you’re from, what rock you crawled from under or what multi-trillion dollar penthouse you live in…you will understand.
Glenn Beck is this news anchor/entrepreneur/comedian guy who says he’s looking for answers, you know, the answers to America’s problems: like oil prices, the American dream, education, hunger and so forth. He’s a self-made guy who doesn’t have much college, so I do respect the fact that he did make it. He often interviews Jonah Goldberg, the author of “Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning” as a guest political pundit on his show. I love the philosophical egotism of these guys and often enjoy their discussions.
They were discussing the possible hidden secrecy of back room deals and secret greased palms – often a hot topic among the Internet’s rabid conspiracy theorists. They basically said that there are no “back room” deals and the politicians do everything out in the open – completely transparent. What I want to know is are these guys being paid to say that? Do they actually believe it? Are they insane? It doesn’t take a genius to know just how corrupted and our government is.
Yesterday, congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment against George W. Bush for a sickening array of crimes against America. The Bush administration actually paid military war experts to say things on every top media news network, among tons of other questionable actions to further their agenda. Will he be impeached? Probably not. The point is, this is just one tiny piece of a gargantuan pie of lies, corruption and deceit.
Every problem going on is caused by a corrupted congress – so far gone – I don’t know if I will ever trust anything they say for the rest of my life. Of course there are billions of back room dollars changing hands, bribing judges and paying for nefarious college educations of children spawned by these crooked scumbags. I don’t buy into every conspiracy theory, and many of them are ridiculous (for all I know, the most ridiculous ones are the only true ones…lol). We the public have the right to rip these people to shreds and leave their political bodies in a burning pile of roasted flesh…disfiguratively speaking. It’s really time for normal citizens to gain the power they could have if they just paid attention. I don’t believe for a second that a new president will improve things. Whoever gets elected had better perform! Every new president has great hopes and dreams – until they get in the White House and Washington changes them. We shall see.
So, now to the climax of my post, ohhhh….uggghhh…ahhhh. Whatever happened to the good old days when people just took your money outright. This may sound insanely deranged and twisted, but there is a certain amount of honor in a criminal just shoving a gun in your face and taking your wallet. There’s a purity and earnestness about a fearless crook pointing a shotgun at a bank teller’s head and saying, “Fill my bag with cash or I will blow your head off.”
Compared to these shady politicians who steal and rob behind closed doors, smelling like fresh spring honey glazed petunias beneath a mask of deception, a simple crook does actually seem honorable
I’ve always loathed the double standard of white collar crime being considered less malevolent or immoral than a common street crime. If an unscrupulous welfare administrator embezzles $100,000.00 from starving school children, it is considered a lesser crime than a bank robbery at gunpoint. What’s the difference? The real difference is that the bank robbers have the balls to go in risking their own lives to get what they want; the spineless namby pamby creme puff embezzler does not. It’s all in which perspective you see it.
It’s much like a political leader who sends men to die in war, while they do not have the bravery to go themselves. This is so much more the case than it was in ancient times. Leaders like Alexander the Great had the brains and the guts to lead his armies on horseback, willing to die first. Compare that to a modern president, who would piss in his pants while facing being blown into pieces. It always bothers me to think about how, while 17 year old boys are being immolated by bombs, the leader who sent them is drinking 100 year old scotch and eating fine cuisine in the lap of luxury – often playing a round of golf or two afterwards – far, far away from the horrendous pain of reality.
I do not condone crime of any kind, this editorial is only meant to give you a unique perspective.

The real difficulty is that no matter how many corrupt politicians we boot out, the system is well versed in absorbing and transforming even the best intentioned replacements into willing accomplices. Our money (or graft) based political system corrupts all it touches, and it will take major changes to election law and campaign financing to right the ship. You make a great point about white collar criminals. And the solution is for people to get more informed and active so that we can take back control of our government.

Politics is all about the hypocrisy nowadays. That is the bitter truth. But still, I am not a pessimist. I would say that the world is still in diapers when it comes to so many vital issues. But at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel – we have an African American and a Woman competing for presidency. Only about 40-50 years ago women in France and the rest of the Western Europe were not able to have a bank account or to vote. That was not so long ago. Thanks to the gorgeous fight of hundreds and thousands of brave women and their political struggle – that kind of practices are not any more possible, at least not in the modern world.
My point is that – if people accept the political responsibility that every person has in today’s world, and if they are, like you Bobby, not afraid to speak up about the issues than I could see something bright fore coming.

I know where you’re coming from, Bobby. I lost all respect for our government when they started using torture tactics and keeping prisoners at Guantanamo Bay without trial. I agree, our system is full of shady, spineless, little weasels.

I understand what you are getting at but don’t know if I would of used the armed robber as a way, I myself find nothing honorable about that at all. The gutless freak who done that to my sister wasn’t honorable when he stuck a double barrel shotgun to her head.

I know of several people who went into politics. None of the people who were good, decent, and honest lasted long at all and one even had himself and his family threatened. That last one was on a very low level of politics too. So yeah, I find it hard to believe that anyone could believe that nonsense about things all being done out front in the open. I don’t. Not for a millisecond.

Just a brief note from someone who has worked in the psychiatric/substance abuse field for a long time. Glenn Beck is a recovering alcoholic (and should be congradulated for 12 yrs sobriety), however he remains on what many in the AA community would call a “dry drunk”. This then results in his outlandish commentary and beliefs that can only come the the thick haze of substance abuse. Didn’t you realize that was the explaination for Rush Oxycontin Limbaugh? Pay attention to these right wing idiots and remember suburban drug trafficing makes ghetto drug trafficking seem small time.

Hi Francis, it is nearly impossible for anyone to remain objective in such a powerful environment. Also, when a person makes millions of dollars, it does change them in a negative way in most cases. Much of that blame is from all the people who throw roses at their feet and think of them as being almost more than human. The lure of richness and power is intoxicating and embeds an indelible stain on their souls. Once a person becomes accustomed to walking on a red carpet, they are no longer a normal citizen.

Yes Jackie, a revolution of intellect and self realization of power. It must come from people being politically independent and free from the label of partisan politics. I cannot get behind any president, that president must instead earn my respect and trust after a few years in office. I think Obama will be president, but I will not support him until he proves himself in office. He has proven nothing to me as of yet.

You are so right J.C., the world is still in diapers. People often forget that modern technology, as an example, hasn’t been around very long at all. Modern society is still in it’s infancy and it’s amazing just how far the world has come. Many people do not realize how close to absolute poverty 90% of America actually is. I think people from other countries sometimes see America through the lens of the media. I personally have barely enough money to eat and am one payment away from living in the streets. If the problem isn’t corrected, America will become a slave labor community, working for all the corporations who have moved. I also know that people from all over Earth have it far worse than I do. I do have the confidence to survive, even if it means living in the woods off the land.

Hi Robin, the Guantanamo Bay situation is one topic that is getting much attention, especially after yesterday’s decision to give those prisoners a civil trial. The problem I have, is the U.S. government needs to prove to me that they had nothing to do with 9-11. I believe our own government paid for 9-11. I would love to be wrong, but they have been so secretive – they have brought much suspicion on themselves. I know many people who think the decision to give them real trials is wrong. I think military tribunals should be televised

Hi Nunyaa, I understand why you feel that way. I have been robbed at gunpoint and also have been shot at on more than one occasion. All criminals are bad, and the white collar criminals are just as bad as any. I read about this guy who had a powerful position at a state prison. An administrator extorted money from a Mexican inmate’s wife (who spoke no English) in exchange for her husbands protection and protection. They caught him red-handed in a sting operation. He was fined $10,000.00 and released. I have a relative who was arrested on a 1st offense cocaine charge and was sentenced to 10 years of hard time. It makes no sense at all. That prison official should have got the 10 year sentence. My relative should have received probation and drug treatment. We are putting the wrong people in jail. In America, 80% of the prisoners are in there for drugs, most of who would be better off getting drug treatment. I know my post has a brutal edge but I did that to get my point across in a unique way. Yes, it does take a spineless worm to pull a gun on somebody; however, a white collar criminal is seen as a good person, when they are just as bad…if not worse.

Hi Teeni, I think there are some good folks in politics, but they get so caught up in the Washington game that it clouds their judgment. We normal folks can’t see the world from their perspective and rich people don’t see life the same as everyone else either. The American middle class has become the poor class, and the truly poor people live in absolute poverty. It’s not even about going to college and getting a job anymore because many of those people are poor too.

Yes, I’m very aware of Glen Becks struggle with alcoholism, but it really has nothing to do with his political views; nor does Rush Limbaugh’s bout with drug addiction. I respect anyone who can get off drugs because I have been through it myself. This is where partisan politics come into play. I am actually in disagreement with both political parties and support the views of Ron Paul.
