@Kima: You are right, violence anywhere affects the whole world. The American media is so self serving and treats violence in other countries like a hot potato - they rarely discuss it unless it's in Iraq or Afghanistan. I hope human kind will actually start using it's intelligence one day and get past all this. Stay safe my friend

@Marzie: Thanks so much! You have cheered me up a lot. I will come read that post

Hi Marzie! No more sad TV and no more politics for me. I am over it. It was a sad day, and it will probably happen again. Thanks for reading this post

Hi Bobby! I just watched a 9-11 episode on TV, where they showed what went on inside the plane that crashed in DC that day. Ahhhhhh, these types of programs never fail to bring me back to that day when the whole world was shocked by what happened! *Hugs*

Well, if you want to know about violence, you can always ask me. I am from North-east India, which is one of the most troubled regions here in India (secession, demand for Independence from India, terrorism etc etc)

Apart from that I am from India, which sees its fair share of violence everyday. Just a couple of hours ago, we have just witnessed another serial bomb blasts in our capital Delhi (you can google for it). Thats life out here. Violence sucks, and it affects everyone, regardless of whether one is an American or an Indian.Thats why sometimes I prefer to live in an imaginary world where there is no violence or hate or killings.

@Teeni: You are so right! When 9-11 happened, I was working 80 hours per week, so I never watched all the news as it happened. Actually, this is the first time I watched all this stuff, so it was like seeing the majority of it for the first time. I will take your advice on positivity and thank you for saying just what I needed to hear

@Kima: I think because I watched so much of it this year, it really had an effect on me. The truth is, 9-11 is a minuscule event compared to many other problems in the world. Overall, America is a safe country to live in. Hey...I'm trying to be positive!

@Michelle: On a positive note, if Obama gets elected, it would be great for helping us and the entire world eliminate a certain amount of racism. I really think it makes no difference which of these guys is elected as far as the economy goes.

Even if we do get another terror attack or whatever, the economy will still be the biggest issue. Without a robust and functional economy, it will not matter because we will fail anyway.

I think it may take America failing before we wake up and get real leadership that panders to no party. When we have no food, money, TV or fun, the only way to go is up...lol

Oh yeah, please get drunk and harass folks at the polls - that would make great TV!

I agree that we are running on fumes... part of me thinks that it is a good thing that we are in an economic downturn and that maybe Americans will come out and become less selfish and materialistic and appreciate the good things in their lives. The other cynical part of me thinks this economy just sucks and no one is going to be the better for it.

As far as politics goes... I think people like Obama because he makes them feel good. Me I am not into emotionalism so whatever Obama says rolls off me like water on a ducks back. I say this although I normally vote democrat and McCain is a freaky war monger who will figure out a way to draft my sons into some nonsense... Too I have 5 kids and I make a good living at home and I hardly see my kids, even though we are tin the same house, HOW does that Palin nut do it??? Just my 2 cents....

So on one hand I can vote for emotional rhetoric or I can vote to go gi joe on the whole planet with the McCain ticket. How about I just drink all day and harass people down at the polls?

I've been reading your politics related posts quite fervently these days. Although I don't have anything to contribute, it is interesting to know whats going on around the world and how people from that place feel about a particular policy etc etc. I've also been watching the hurricane Ike on TV and I pray for all the good people of Texas.

I still remember the impact 9/11 had on us even though we were half way across the world with nothing at all to do with America. It was unbelievable, and highly condemnable. I can understand you pouring out your feelings on this, and we are always there to share your frustration. Take care Bobby.

It's not just Americans who are saddened when they remember this tragedy. But I do think it is rough to keep seeing it over and over. If any of these victims had died a less public death then their families would be allowed to grieve and then carry on with their lives, albeit with a loss - we all know how that is. Unfortunately, this gets relived over and over every year. I don't mean to sound disrespectful or uncaring but we need to stop dwelling on the negative and start making sure that those people didn't perish for nothing. We need to put the outrage and fear to a positive application for our country. I'm not claiming to know all the answers because I definitely don't but I do know that focusing on the negative and horrifying isn't healthy for anyone.
