I rarely ever suffer from a lack of blogging inspiration and it screams out of my soul like erupting lava; endlessly, constantly, incessantly and cannot be stopped. I have my beliefs and methodology, so I will share it with whoever will listen. I am no expert on anything because in my world, there is no such thing as expertise. To be truly creative, one must remain detached from silly ideas like ego, mastery, expertise and superiority.

My Personal Path to Peace

I am a lifelong student of Zen and will remain so eternally; it is not from but conceptualized through Zen, I am able to be in constant motion. I will not get into esoteric terminology here, but will explain what I sense and can articulate as simply as possible. You cannot learn Zen from reading books. More importantly, Zen is not something based on logic, and cannot be explained logically. Actually, Zen is not to be understood. Even calling it Zen makes it confusing because it repels one’s mind from it’s true purpose.

Radiance of Inner Peace

Radiance of Inner Peace

Basically, each of us has the ability to achieve extremely deep levels of intense concentration. After years and years of practice – through meditation and breathing exercises – we awaken the element of spiritual illumination. In Zen, this element is considered real and alive, not just a figment of imagination. This could be thought of as the soul. I cannot explain all of this in a blog article, but if you’re interested, read much and get a good Zen teacher. I will never reach “that age” where I’ve learned what I need to know and ponder no more. I study and contemplate philosophy and human thought constantly – like a child who eagerly wishes to learn – until my death.

Through years of yoga, development and control of inner chi (or Qi) and the inquisitively interrogative state of absolute consciousness achieved through Zen, you become yourself in the most complete way possible. The difference between Zen and most other philosophies/religions is there is no book or text to follow. There is no Zen bible. All truth and realization must come from within, not from understanding or practice of anything written. In many respects, Zen is the religion of no religion where all actualization is achieved through self-understanding or enlightenment.

I learned Zen not at a monastery, but through martial arts. Ultimately all religions are about love and peace. In some ways, Zen could be thought of as agnostic or atheistic, but incredibly spiritual.  People from all religions such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism would benefit from learning and studying Zen. Atheists and agnostics in particular can benefit greatly through learning it’s concepts. I have studied all the above religions as well as atheistic teachings from luminaries such as Ayn Rand. All knowledge is worth the effort. Ultimately, Zen is the art of individualism; however, you don’t have to learn it to understand the concept. I just want people to know the path I used to achieve inner peace.

Individualism and Self-Ownership

All peace comes from within each individual. Ideas like hatred, racism, animosity, envy, greed, war and so forth must be solved on an individual basis. The world doesn’t change for anybody – all change must come from within. Many people believe that governments, militarism, presidents and leaders can change the world – but they cannot. They can help and inspire though. I am happy to see America elect it’s first African American biracial president and I wish him well; however, no president will ever be my personal leader, he or she will only be the president of the USA. I certainly hope Barack Obama will do a good job and keep inspiring people, but it is the people that must inspire themselves and each other. We should never look towards an outside source to bring peace into our lives as peace only comes from within. Having said that, he is an inspiring leader and the world could use some inspiration! This is an especially huge and symbolic win for minorities across the world – for all of us.

No other human can or will ever be my leader – I am my own leader.

World peace is on the minds of everyone, especially with America’s election; the entire world is watching. Ever since the beginning of societies, humankind has been trying to find the correct governmental ideology to fix everything. The truth is, there is not one. Peace will never come from government and this has been proven over and over again. Government and ruling bodies actually hinder peace because none of us think alike or have the same beliefs. When government forces equality by law, we actually become less free.

Currently, this is the general attitude of many people. They believe the government should have more power and solve problems like poverty, racism, hunger and world peace. The government cannot solve every problem in our lives – no government ever has and none ever will. It is the people themselves that can change the world – on an individual basis. Hatred and racism are born in the hearts of individuals. Law cannot make people not hate each other! You must rid those feelings from yourself.

It’s what you think in the privacy of your own mind that counts the most, not the face you show the world.

If you as an individual let go of all hatred, you are on the right path! Teaching people to be individualistic and realize the essence of self-ownership is the most powerful tool for peace ever conceived. All political ideologies and people are flawed including my own and myself. I believe separate sovereign nations are better than one single nation under one government. Humans are too similar to animals – we are animals – than to ever live peacefully under one government (a one world government – which is something I absolutely oppose). All people work best when they are free to lead individual lives – which reveals the truth: all peace stems from love and inner peace.
