Falling into love
chasm’s deep endless
into one another
catacombs of lonely-together
death as our guide
Climbing up love
crisp warm spire
cool flow sunward
tightrope walkers
under stormed vertex; trembling
To settle down; settle up
or side paths; climaxed horizons
treading desire
journey of obliquity
parallel submersion; supreme into flat
Ingress between love
slabs of rainbows smiling tears
to shroud one another
an uprush sculpture
an inflow release
Explosion of eight winds; frigid gushed inferno
implosion of all sins; together free alone
let’s pay the price
let’s afford the pain
let us burn expansive
and die in the rain
A side-path of passion
slow smolder; churn as ember
weaving affection’s twill
let us design, construct, compose
and just be
symphony of love
Happy Valentine’s Day to all

@Candy: Thank you! The idea of erotic or being erotic was nowhere near me when I wrote this. But since you mentioned it . . . I see it now. I was thinking in terms of upward souls, but revealed something innately physical about me. You are the deep one.
@Sarah: Thanks so much! Sharing is a wonderful act. Happy Valentine’s to you too!

*Sniff* I’m sappy. That’s funny, I did sense the erotic as well. I think we may be looking for it, or you may be type-cast, or maybe it just comes out automatically and you don’t realize it. LOL! I liked it. Thank you and Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!

There definitely is a symphonic feel and tone to this poem – a very well-chosen title. I like how it builds and can particularly relate to the image of the ‘cool flow sunward/tightrope walkers.’ That sums up love for me. Very nice!

@Marzie: Thank you Marzie! No more bizarre dates for me. I do a criminal background check on all dates beforehand hahaha!
@Selma: Thank you Selma! That’s actually my favorite line. I haven’t written very many love poems, but when the poem unexpectedly appears in my mind, I must get it on paper before it disappears–and I know you know that magical creative feeling:)

I’m speechless since posting a serious comment here may be viewed as humor. Perhaps, a humorous comment like the Bard of the Bailouts does Romantic comedy, will be viewed as a serious compliment? (wink, wink)

hehe, after 17 comments here is me, the first guy to come along and say “love the poem”
Sounds very x rated too, which intensifies the emotions and passion within the poem. Love it!

So often what we imagine as love, is really just an attempt to shelter from those things we don’t like about ourselves.
Which I think, is one of the themes here in your poem.
Real love (another theme, I think!), is not about hiding, or trying to change or save someone. Its being ourselves in all our glory, nothing concealed and loving the other in return fiercely and brightly. Holding each other up joyously.

@Paula: Thank You!
@Kima: Thanks! This poem is like one of those 3-D pictures that change when looking at it from different angles:)
@Svasti: Very percipient of you . . . thanks! Love is usually all these things even in the best or worst relationships with ourselves and others. We can fall in love, climb to love–love can fall away or rise–or love can be traversed through side-roads of stability; all possibilities and many directions love’s energy can move:)

Bobby, I agree with your comment that this poem changes when you read it. I read it three times and came up with different feelings/emotions each time I did. But what I did sense, through each reading was the complex journey of love. A shared love is so many things at differen times, hard, easy, gentle, hard, lost, found, exctasy, and agony.
I loved your poem–absolutely incredible.

Wow…Thank you Melinda! Some say love is simple, others say it’s complex. I say it’s all those things. One thing is clear: life without it is extremely difficult. We all need love!

I am going to come back and read this without reading the comments. Or reread it in my reader. I had a perception of what I was thinking when I read it but then I read the comments and it swayed my thinking in a different direction.
That’s the interesting thing about blogging so much more alive then just reading a book about poetry. The side discussions and dialogue.
I trust you had a good Valentine’s Day. Mine was fabulous!

Hi Michelle! That happens to me all the time. I go to comment and end up commenting about something someone else commented.
I don’t love all poetry and often times the “great” poets revered throughout history bore me to tears. So many people write blog poetry, which is probably why I don’t. If it magically appears in my mind, I will write it–which is what happened with this one:)

Oh Bobby you have been holding out on us. Wow, I didn’t distracted by anyone’s comment. This is a very sensual and erotic piece of writing.
It is one of the loveliest I have ever read. When I finished my urge was to say okay let’s do.
Powerful Bobby…truly powerful!!
I am sorry about getting around so late. Please forgive me. It’s been quite hectic.
Oh my Bobby. And to think this is the last thing I am reading before bed. Whewwwwwwwwww!!!!!

What a beautiful poem, dense with rich language and imagery. My favorite parts were the second stanza “Climbing up love” and “tightrope walkers” as well as the last line, which brought the piece full circle. Nice.

@Jackie: Thank you! Is it really erotic? Haha…it is totally by accident. Whew! LOL!
@Melissa: Thanks so much! I’m not really a big fan of love poetry (probably because I have little confidence it will not be lame lol). I read some love poetry from Yeats earlier and was blown away!

your breath is heavy
with cigarette offerings
and scotch-taped thrift store
mental miracles.
you lay below me
and i pull orgasms out of you
like golden potatoes
buried by god.
we walk arm in arm
like Siamese twins
sometimes
and it scares me.
we burn the pages
of life together
and read
more than twice as fast
as everyone else.

@Teeni: Thanks! I have included poetry in some fiction stories recently, but they often go unnoticed as part of something else. I figured why not a love poem betwixt so much violence? LOL!

This poem is very beautiful and deep.
I love my hubby so much that sometimes it hurts.
When you love someone a whole lot you’re always reminded of the pain it would be to lose them- like if they died or something.
I try not to think of that- and put my mind to positive things but it’s the feeling that comes when we are together. Very very strong.
I feel fortunate to know true love as many people go through life and never find their soul mate.
Blessings,
Eren

@Emila: Awww…I checked my mail every day looking for it but never received it. I’m usually home during the day. I thought maybe it was lost in the mail. It is so wonderful that you thought of me! I’m so sorry I didn’t get to see it.
