This poem is very beautiful and deep.
I love my hubby so much that sometimes it hurts.
When you love someone a whole lot you’re always reminded of the pain it would be to lose them- like if they died or something.
I try not to think of that- and put my mind to positive things but it’s the feeling that comes when we are together. Very very strong.
I feel fortunate to know true love as many people go through life and never find their soul mate.

with cigarette offerings
and scotch-taped thrift store
mental miracles.

you lay below me
and i pull orgasms out of you
like golden potatoes
buried by god.

we walk arm in arm
like Siamese twins
sometimes
and it scares me.

we burn the pages
of life together
and read
more than twice as fast

as everyone else.

@Melissa: Thanks so much! I’m not really a big fan of love poetry (probably because I have little confidence it will not be lame lol). I read some love poetry from Yeats earlier and was blown away!

What a beautiful poem, dense with rich language and imagery. My favorite parts were the second stanza “Climbing up love” and “tightrope walkers” as well as the last line, which brought the piece full circle. Nice.
