I generally stay away from writing about politics these days because I believe it serves only to divide, not unite people. And don’t worry, I will not be writing more frequent political articles, but this one is important. As anyone familiar with my political beliefs, knows I oppose both the democratic and republican parties. I am a libertarian, though I do not support the libertarian party as they themselves have sold out. I think our government is run by corporate thugs and the media is run by fools. Fox is biased towards republicans. MSNBC is biased towards liberals. CBS news gets all their information from the New York Times. I do like Lou Dobbs from CNN and John Stossel on ABC’s 20-20 and very few others. I sometimes even agree with Glenn Beck (except for his on-air hissy fit crying and Christian extremism) and Keith Olbermann (except for the fact he is in love with Obama and blindly believes in all liberal rhetoric).
Right now, the media frenzy over corporate titan AIG paying out 160 million in bonuses to employees by contrast to real problems is so ridiculous, people are missing the point. This frenzy is unimportant and is to misdirect where attention should be. I’m not worried about the 160 million. I’m worried about the 9.7 trillion.
The Federal Reserve Is the Cancer of America
Think of America as a dying cancer patient. Now, imagine everyone trying to cure this patient by dressing them in designer clothes. This is an accurate analogy of what is going on. We all know that putting a cancer patient in new clothes will not help them, though it may make them look better for a few minutes. And that’s how we are dealing with the current economic crisis. We are dressing up the problems, while the festering disease rots beneath. So I ask you what is the real problem in America? Is it gay marriage? Is it tossing trillions around like candy? Is it war? No . . . it’s none of these things. It is the federal reserve. The federal reserve is the root of the problem; yet the media, the congress, the president and the people seem to have no idea.
The federal reserve is not part of the American government, it is a privately owned central bank and completely separate from the government. They are completely above the law, answer to no one and are completely unregulated. And they are the ones printing the money, which by the way is backed by nothing. Most politicians—Obama included—have no idea how the federal reserve works (or don’t care) and have no plans to do anything about it.
Something You Can Do Today
I am a supporter of Ron Paul. One thing I cannot stand is how the media portrays Ron Paul supporters as a bunch of rabid idiots. While I do agree many Ron Paul supporters are idiots (so are many Obama & Bush supporters), and brand them like the 9-11 truthers, he is the only politician doing something real. He is trying to get legislation passed to audit and reform the federal reserve. I think the federal reserve should be destroyed and doesn’t need to exist. Now, I don’t agree with everything Ron Paul says and I do not support all his ideas, but I do agree with him on this.
Here is the official letter from Ron Paul:
Right now, you and I are seeing the worst plundering of a nation’s wealth in the history of civilization – all led by the out of control Federal Reserve.
If you and I don’t act today, I’m afraid this crisis will end with the economic ruin of every man, woman and child in the United States.
Just think about the scope of the problem for a minute: The Fed pumps trillions of dollars in fiat currency into a system already overloaded by the massive amount of dollars committed to the economic bailouts in recent months.
This TOTALS:
More than the socialist New Deal…
More than the entire Iraq debacle…
More than the 1980’s savings and loan mess…
More than the Korean War…COMBINED.
Where will it all end?
It’s time you and I put a stop to an out of control Federal Reserve. And Ron Paul has a bill before Congress to do just that.
That’s why it’s vital you fill out your personal “Audit the Fed” petition in support of Congressman Paul’s bill.
Today, $9.7 TRILLION in taxpayer dollars in bailouts and loans have been agreed to by Congress, the Bush and Obama Treasury Departments, and the Federal Reserve.
Poll after poll shows the American people are fed up and are ready for fresh leadership to make their voices heard in Washington.
That means it’s a perfect time to unleash the Ron Paul R3VOLUTION on the out of control Fed!
Please complete this petition urging your Congressman to cosponsor and a seek roll-call vote on Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed Bill — the first step toward ENDING THE FEDERAL RESERVE once and for all!
As I know you’re aware, the Federal Reserve’s inner-workings are shrouded in secrecy, and their meetings are off-limits to the public.
Just recently, the Federal Reserve told Congress “NO WAY” when asked to account for TWO TRILLION DOLLARS in taxpayer-backed loans!
Well, why do you think they refused?
They know coming clean with Congress and the American people on how they doled out those two TRILLION dollars would result in an anti-Fed firestorm.
So can you imagine the impact of a full-scale audit?
You and I will finally be able to show the American people that the Federal Reserve System leads to:
- Constant economic crises — the housing crisis and the resulting chaos is just one example of an economic bubble created by centrally-planned interest rates and money manipulation;
- The destruction of the middle class — as fuel, food, housing, medical care and education costs soar, everyone who is NOT on the government dole is forced to make do with less as the value of their money slowly decreases;
- Currency destruction — history shows us that riots, violence and full-scale police states can result when people finally realize fiat money isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on and REFUSE to accept it.
And unless you and I do end the madness in Washington, D.C., we may be closer than we’d like to think to learning that history lesson first hand — right here on the streets of our towns and cities.
That’s why your commitment to helping the Campaign for Liberty fight this battle is so vital.
Just a few months ago, there was no chance of passing any legislation like Ron Paul’s Audit-the-Fed Bill.
So I guess there has been one “CHANGE.”
But with the piling up of trillions of dollars in out of control “bailouts” of Wall Street and international bankers, even many politicians in Washington, D.C. want to show you they’re “being responsible”.
What better way for Congress to do this than by auditing the Federal Reserve to account for the trillions stolen from the U.S. taxpayers?
There will be many battles you and I must fight over the coming months to take back our country. But this one is set to rage in Congress in just a few short weeks.
And, it’s a bill we CAN pass!
You see, after regulating, taxing, spending, borrowing and printing us into what looks like the worst recession in decades, establishment politicians and power brokers are assuring us they are working hard to “fix” our economic woes.
So they want to do something (anything) to show you they care.
That’s why Dr. Paul’s bill is positioned to move forward this year.
And since very few politicians understand the Federal Reserve System, they do not understand the threat this bill poses to the borrow-and-spend system they continually vote for.
And even if Ron Paul’s Audit-the-Fed Bill is defeated, just forcing a vote is a win/win situation.
Can you imagine how many politicians will pay the price at the ballot box in 2010 when you and I tell the American people their Congressman somehow lost trillions of taxpayer dollars and voted against even looking for the money?
Of course, getting a vote won’t be easy, but you know just as well as I do that Ron Paul has proven he’s not afraid of a fight.
Now, we just need to show Congress that the American people demand action on Ron Paul’s Audit-the-Fed Bill. Here’s how we plan to do that:
First, we’re already busy contacting up to five million activists nationwide through mail, phones and e-mail to generate petitions to the U.S. Congress demanding action on the bill.
But that’s just the beginning.
We’ll work the talk radio stations and grant local media interviews to further turn up the pressure on Congress. And, of course, Ron Paul supporters will own the meet-up groups and social networking sites that first launched our R3volution.
And a few days before the vote, if we have the resources, we’d also like to run hard-hitting targeted radio, TV and newspaper ads.
This entire program is designed to send one, CLEAR message to Congress — Any politician who votes against the Federal Reserve Audit should look for another job.
I am asking you, my readers, to at least take one minute to sign the petition. Let’s audit the federal reserve now! This is something all of us, regardless of political party can agree upon. This is the real fight. The real problem. It’s time we all deliver our blows.

It certainly couldn’t hurt. We are all audited, taxed, held accountable, hit with regulation after regulation, made to deal with compliance issues and laws, etc., etc. — why shouldn’t the Federal Reserve be audited?!? Good point. All banks, big or small, should be subject to audit! I wouldn’t want to be the firm doing the audit but, hey!

Hi Evelyn! In my opinion, this is one of the most important bills in American history: more important than bringing the troops home, more important than anything the Obama or Bush administration has done or will do. Not only should it be audited, it should be eliminated completely. The federal reserve is nothing more than an international crime ring and is the root of all problems, everything else is mere window dressing:)

A very good and informative article Bobby. I had no idea that the Federal Reserve was not audited.
Thank you for making me aware of this. Yes I think I shall support this issue.
By the way…EC backed off with their demands so I am back.
I guess a little old fashion protesting still works somewhere.
Happy day Bobby and thanks for stopping in the other day.
I will come back and follow your link and fill out that petition. It is a good cause and should be passed.

Hi Jackie! The federal reserve actually is audited by outside financial firms, but the public is not allowed to know what they find (and neither is congress). Besides, the audit they get is corrupt anyway.
EC has demands? I did read they will be adding ads to it soon, so I will probably delete my account as soon as it goes into effect. All the number one highest rated blogs on EC actually purchase their credits—so they are basically buying the number one spot. EC’s goal is to sell credits, they don’t care about the people who use it. I’m so glad my life doesn’t revolve around money. Thanks Jackie. Old fashioned protesting and community involvement got Obama elected, so I hope it can help abolish the federal reserve (eventually)!

I am SO WITH YOU ON THIS ONE! You’re right…the left and the right make me nuts! And BO is doing everything he can to take everyone else’s eye off the real issue–THE TRILLIONS WE ARE IN DEBT. They are mortgaging my kid’s future!
How pathetic are we? And the left is worried about Palin’s kid? Are yu kidding me?

Hi Ev! Well, this entire outrage about AIG bonuses is redundant and irrelevant, and both sides are to blame—from the president (both Bush and Obama) to every member of congress. So far, Obama is like Bush #3 with his foreign policy and continuing the bailout frenzy started by Bush. I oppose both the left and right; they are both wrong.
The trillions being spent is frightening—it’s basically robbing future generations.

Thanks Jackie! So far, I’ve had 47 clicks of that link which to me is an amazing amount considering 95% of all people aren’t interested in politics at all (including me . . . I hate politics). I find it astonishing that people get mad over AIG’s bonuses but are OK with the 9.7 trillion

Hi Bobby!
The Government auditing themselves…that’s funny… I’m not sure that is what our founding fathers envisioned when they created the balance of power in the Constitution. If I recall correctly, they also sought to prevent a Central Banking System or Federal Reserve as noted by Article 1, Section 8, Clause 4, “To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;” which is (was?) a Congressional power.
For almost two years, Ron Paul’s “Honest Money Act” H.R. 2755 has been dead in the Congressional swimming pool under the bridge to the 21st century.
I agree that something needs to be done yet, in my humble opinion, I doubt an audit of the Federal Reserve will decrease the national debt which surpassed $11 trillion on March 16, 2009, balance the budget, etc.

The Federal Reserve needs to be abolished completely. Since its creation in 1913 (The Federal Reserve Act, ch. 6, 38 Stat. 251, enacted on December 23, 1913, 12 U.S.C. ch.3), the U.S. dollar has lost over 90% of its value. And it’s lost around 37% of its value in just the last seven years! It’s bleeding us dry and demolishing out buying power.
Like you said, it’s a cancer. And it’s been devouring us since day one. It needs to GO! If only people had listened to Ron Paul 10 years ago when he warned of all this, the country wouldn’t be in this mess. Let’s just hope Ron Paul runs again in 2012.
Btw, I tweeted this post.
Shine on,
Aaron

@Debbie: The audit is as you say will do nothing to reduce the debt even if it did pass; however, it’s really just to bring attention to the unconstitutional federal reserve. The truth is, nobody cares. I cannot believe how ignorant both politicians and the American public actually are. I just don’t get it. I heard Obama say, “We can’t go back to the old way of boom and bust cycles.” I almost passed out when he said that because his entire vision is based on creating a freaking boom and bust cycle—to get the public taking out loans again so the hole will only grow bigger!
@Aaron: The American people will never vote for Ron Paul, they want flashy smiles and soaring rhetoric. This new retroactive 90% tax imposed on AIG bonus recipients is mob rules politics and completely unconstitutional. Why aren’t American’s mad about the destruction of civil liberties? What we need more than anything is an anti-fed firestorm—people marching in the streets against the federal reserve; until that happens (and I doubt it ever will) we will continue boom/bust economics. I am over it all. People get mad over 160 million but are OK with being robbed of trillions. It is simply astonishing. Thanks for the tweet!

Hi Bobby,
This was a great post–very informative–and I absolutely agree that the Federal Reserve should be audited. And in fact, you would think that even Obama would think this to be a good idea, with all his rhetoric on conducting business in a clear and transparent manner.
And while it is true that the FR is currently audited by a private firm–what good is it when the results of the audit are not allowed to be made public? Seems like that kind of defeats the purpose, doesn’t it?
Count me in as signed–I think they should be audited too.

Thanks Melinda! The days of rugged individualism in America has been replaced with a love for government—the very opposite vision of the founding fathers. I don’t believe in government and business being in bed together which is why I so staunchly oppose both political parties.
An audit will probably never happen. An audit isn’t enough, the FR needs to be completely eradicated as it is unconstitutional to even exist. Of course the U.S. government brands people like me as radical because I oppose nearly everything they do. I would support quasi-socialized medicine IF we were in the finanial position to do it. Mark my words: America will recover, but not because of Bush’s and Obama’s trillion dollar bailouts and stimulus packages—but because of the people. And it will be another bubble which will not last. When it bursts, the trillions of owed money will destroy the dollar. And that’s just the way it is.
No more political writing for me, it breaks my heart to see what’s going on and hurts even more to write about it.

Most people don’t know that the Federal Reserve is a private entity just as they don’t know that a corporation actually has the same rights as a living breathing human being. They also don’t realize that we the people have every right to over throw the government and start over again if need be.

I like your thinking about the AIG bonuses, let’s worry more about the big money being thrown around by our government and the lack of accounting. I recently just wrote an article on that very thing.
Also, I will go one step further and suggest the real problem in America is an apathetic population. Our government simply is a reflection of us or what we demand. If we have more active people taking an interest, I think things would change for the better.
#19 by Revellian at March 25th, 2009

@Jackie: Thanks so much! America keeps treating the symptoms while ignoring the root cause. But everyone has different beliefs and most people do disagree with me.
@Meleah: It should be audited and should all be public information. I give up on it because people really don’t care about the truth.
@Angela: So true, and libertarians like me are considered “enemy combatants” by the government. To me, the best government is hardly any government at all—power to the people. We’ve thrown the responsibility on Obama’s back (and congress) when the real answer is not with government, it’s with the people. We really don’t need a president, we need a whole new minimized government (that has very little power).
@Mickey: People think you elect a new president and he will fix everything—it just isn’t true. American citizens are too apathetic and busy paying their own bills to worry over the big issues. This is creating a new society in which individualism doesn’t count.

Great Article. I really like and respect Ron Paul.
Too bad during the presidential elections… the media gave Ron Paul minimal coverage. He had my vote but since John McCain took his spot, I voted for the party that he endorsed.

Hey Kip! Obama or McCain, it makes no difference–they are both the same and had McCain been elected, America would be in the same boat. As far as I’m concerned, both political parties are wrong about everything. Besides, it really doesn’t matter who he president is.
