Hey Ana, sounds like Australia is doing the same thing we are. America is steering away from capitalism and heading into socialism thanks to Bush/Obama (to me they are the same, one less war-like than the other). In my opinion, not letting corrupted corporations die was the worst mistake America has ever made and now the world will pay for it. I think the idea that a president can "fix" things and "keep us safe" is so ridiculous. I think it best they do nothing and let the chips fall on their own, allowing corruption to corrupt itself into the ground.

I'd bet money that the whole Perez Hilton/Miss California controversy was engineered by Donald Trump as a smart business maneuver. Hilton knows how to get traffic, but he is a jerk. Oh yeah? He has semen splattered wallpaper on his site? I'll pass on looking at it hahaha:)

I think politics are flawed everywhere. It's like here. Now that our prime minister in Australia gave money away as part of various stimulus packages, and we're in a massive deficit, which has raised the retirement/pension age to 67, the younger 'folk', Gen Y pains in the posterior, think he's sooooooo cool.
For the unemployed, however, there are no benefit increases or incentives, other than going through the same motions, and circling the same groove. I'm anarchistic too.
Democracy now is just capitalism, and that's not the real definition of democracy anyway. Uber capitalism, the type that is ruthless, non sustainable (for societies, cultures, environments), will fizzle out. The culture of the corporation is the worst thing, and people, including presidents, are too gutless to change it.
The mentality of fixing an economy by throwing money at it, doesn't work that well. It doesn't create jobs when multi-nationals are hell bent on downsizing.

I laughed with the fuss Perez Hilton made with Miss California, like her view is powerful enough to alter laws around the world. People like Perez Hilton make the gay community look frivolous. He is frivolity incarnate and his contribution to this world, a vulgar blog with 'semen' marks via Windows Paint, is a joke.

Thanks Euro, I don't believe it's possible to understand politics and people believing they do probably understand it the least haha! I don't even believe my own opinions about politics and could easily be dead wrong about all of it. But I do love horror:)

Thanks DT, no matter what I write, I still basically despise politics and believe the federal government should be reduced in size/power by 90%. My article is sort of a "trick" article as I didn't really say anything good about politics hahaha:)

Interesting perspective, this is truly a refreshing look on politics. Personally I've been staying out of politics for several years now because I never found it to benefit me and more importantly, others. Quite the opposite actually.

When I read the title "Political positivity" my first thought was "that's an oxymoron". I'm afraid it still is to me, even after having read this post. I suppose it could be possible to be political and positive at the same time but for that the whole system would have to change first. Either way, thanks for the efforts Revellian! :o)

Hey Jennifer, la la land sounds like a good place. I've been sleeping in the cuckoo's nest myself. I don't blame you for not discussing politics, it seems only to divide people. News is no longer news, it's a billion dollar entertainment industry. As long as I get a hot dinner everyday, I'm happy!

Hey Melinda! Usually when I discuss politics with people, they think I'm right wing until I mention how I'm anti-war and socially liberal. The republicans will not get back in office until they become socially liberal because most Americans are socially liberal. I'd like to see the republican party dismantled and replaced with a libertarian based party. One thing I will say about Obama is if we're hit with a terror attack, we don't have to worry about him waging war on an uninvolved country as Bush did with Iraq. Other than that, I am against all his economic policies.

Overall, I am over politics. It's sad when I have to read foreign news like the BBC and Independent to get accurate unbiased American news hahahaha! I don't oppose gay marriage or any other social issue like it. I want to marry myself so I can get a tax break

Hello -- I've been out in gardening la la land and show up here to see a new look. The page looks great, and I also like the fact that your comment box welcomes me back personally. I feel right at home.

I'm not going to talk politics here, but I do agree that the Miss California craziness was ridiculous. Even in my practically media-free life (ok, I do watch the Daily Show via my computer and I read the ... New York Times (!) so you know my leanings) I heard about the furor over her comment on gay marriage. Aren't there more important stories out there?

Hi Bobby,

I thought you nailed it as far as what you like about Obama and what you don't like. What I like best about him is his honesty--about everything from the Chavez incident, to being honest with Americans about the grave state of affairs. I appreciate that he talks to us as though we are adults, and not addled fools or silly little children, the way the Bush-Cheney administration did.

What I really got a LOL at was your recommendations for the Republican party. It seems you want to make them into moderate democrats--and that would be fine with me but I doubt that's going to happen. Of course, I think the republican party needs to get back to its small government, free-market, roots and drop the it's religious-based cultural dogma. Of course, I believe that the Republican party should be broken down into two: 1) the republican party who believes in capitalism, free trade, and small government and another party called the Right-Wing Nutjob Party--those folks who care nothing about true republican values and are only conservative because of the religous/cultural issues.

I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative and feel pretty let down by politics in general right now (that last election really burned me out). I did feel terrible that Prop 8 passed as I have so many gay friends who would benefit from it being blocked; HOWEVER, that said, I think those people who attacked Miss CA for her beliefs are terrible! She has a right to her opinion--and as you said, she is a BEAUTY contestant--not running for office for crying out loud!

Great read, as usual, Bobby-
